Zanshin Martial Arts has a simple and flexible pricing structure. We want you to get the best out of your training, but still have time for all the other things in life. We have an easy casual nightly training fee, which you just pay as you go at the start of each lesson you attend. There's no minimum or term fees, you don't pay for any classes you miss.
If you are training once a week the nightly fee is the cheapest option, but if you are starting to attend 2 or more classes a week then our Monthly fee is a great discount. Train as many times as you like for a calendar month. Your training card will get a stamp which you show at each class you attend.
To continue training with Zanshin Martial Arts you'll need to become members of our club. We have a once off joining fee which gives you lifetime membership with Zanshin. It never expires and even if you go away for a long time and come back, you'll still remain a member.
Your membership package includes everything you need to start training, you'll receive a full Zanshin uniform and training card to track your progress.
You don't need to pay this on the first night. We like you to try a couple of classes at our regular nightly price, you'll soon know if you like it and want to continue. Once you've become a member you can continue training at our low training prices and begin to prepare for grading and moving to the next level.
Zanshin Martial Arts official uniforms are comfortable and practical 8oz polyester cotton martial arts training wear.
Students will need to wear correct uniform for gradings and training in.
The Jacket, pants and belt come as a set with the Zanshin logo on the front and back. Students will often go on to wear these for years and years, they are good quality and last a long time.
Zanshin Martial Arts official T-Shirts are comfortable for training in. They are a breathable, moisture wicking, polyester fabric. Students can wear these instead of their uniform jackets and many like to get them for training in the summer months.
The t-shirt is optional and can be worn for training. Combined with an additional set of martial arts uniform pants, makes a great option for a second uniform
Students who are 4th Kyu and above will require a heavy weight uniform. These are 16oz canvas fabric and are designed to withstand the greater demands placed on the uniform by the more advanced student at their higher level of training.
These heavy weight uniforms are an investment in training and are a requirement for grading for 4th Kyu and above. You can continue to wear your light weight uniform and t-shirt until black belt.
The hakama and woven jacket are traditional wear for Ai Ki training, which are not just more practical for the type of training, but tools for shaping your technique and movements. As soon as you are wearing a hakama, you move and even stand differently than you do without one. This affects the way you deliver techniques and helps to develop proper form in the whole body.
You don't need to buy this stuff, but we know you want to. Zanshin branded gear is great to wear about and show your team spirit! The Hoodies (Zip and Pullover) are great to wear to class over your t-shirt or instead of your jacket. The polo shirt is pretty stylish to wear around to events or just casually. And of course our sports bags and caps are great accessories. See your Sensei for a price list and order from them. We also have a shop set up at Gradings where you can get everything on the day.
Optional equipment includes kicking shields and mitts, for partnered practice at home, or bring them along to class to improve your experience. You aren't required to buy them, but it can be great to have your own gear to bring with you for training. See your Sensei for a price list and order from them. We also have a shop set up at Gradings where you can get everything on the day. They come in Red or Yellow.
Students in the Ai Ki class require a practice weapons kit for training. There are many reasons for weapons training in Zanshin Ai Ki classes. Weapons training is helpful for learning proper distancing and it is a good basis for defence against weapons. Weapons training can add a lot of intensity to practice, especially in practising defences against weapons attacks. Training with weapons provides students with an opportunity to develop a kind of responsiveness and sensitivity to the movements and actions of others within a format that is usually highly structured.
